Hello, friends! Jesus Christ has taken me on a journey from singer and musician, to teacher, to writer. In each of my careers He has been my friend, my counselor, my comforter, my protector and my provider. And of course, He is my Savior. I hope my posts encourage and inspire you to see Jesus in the small daily wonders all around us.
Check out my other pages. I’ve been blogging for 10 years, mostly on how our daily lives are wonderfully influenced by walking closely with God.
I’m a wife, mother and grandmother. The Word of God has been my teacher and mentor for over forty years. And I’ve been blessed to have participated in many wonderful ministries at church as a singer, musician, teacher, helper, and Christian music theater director.
I’ve written devotionals and short stories for a variety of Christian publications. I am the author of several suspense novels and romances. I have been a 2014 and 2015 semi finalist in the American Christian Fiction Writers annual Genesis contest in both romance and suspense categories. I also write a regular blog post, and have published many story stories and devotionals.
Currently, I’m the President of Northwest Christian Writers Association, a large group of writers (in the hundreds) dedicated to making their words count for building up and encouraging readers. Some of us are writers of devotionals and Christian counseling books. Others write memoirs and autobiographies. And some, like me, love to write fiction of all genres. We believe that Christ is our teacher and mentor, and just as he told parables to educate his hearers, we love to compose stories with characters who struggle just as we real-life people do!
Dena Netherton grew up in the San Francisco Bay Area. Although a shy teen, her vocal talent pushed her into performing. She attended Oberlin College Conservatory of Music and graduated with a degree in vocal music. Returning to the Bay Area, Dena continued to perform, this time on a professional level. Two years later, she attended the School of Music at the University of Michigan and earned a Master of Music. Shortly after, Dena and her husband were married and lived in Illinois. Dena continued to perform but also taught piano and voice. Later, Dena returned to school to earn a degree in music education, and she later taught music in Colorado and California. But ten years later, the writing bug hopped onto her shoulder and whispered stories in her ear too compelling to ignore. Dena was ready to retire from teaching and pursue a career in writing. She began small, submitting short stories, articles, and devotions. Then, one day, after nearly seven years of studying writing, her first book was accepted for publication. Three more followed within two years. And two more will arrive within the year.
Dena and her husband live in Wyoming where the wind carries the song of the lark, the deer and the antelope roam, and the wide open spaces beckon them to hop into their Armada and explore the wild, wild places that set the imagination soaring.
